UBC Electronic Signature Process for 2007 Michael Smith Fdn for Health Research Funding Programs

On August 15, 2006, the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research launched MSFHR ApplyNet, a new web-based application system accessed through the Foundation's website.

All the required application forms, including the Canadian Common CV are completed and submitted through MSFHR ApplyNet. With a few exceptions, the entire submission process is online and paper forms are no longer required by MSFHR. The final approval for the submission of your application to MSFHR will be made electronically through the Office of Research Services.

UBC still requires that you meet its internal signature policies and deadlines as listed in the following table. Please review the documentation requirements when obtaining signatures.

  • Title page, Signatures page(s), Team Members, Abstract or Summary of proposed project, Budget including justification, Letter of Support

4) Where is Research Services?

  • All faculties may obtain signatures at 102-6190 Agronomy Road, UBC
  • Applications from the Faculty of Medicine and hospital based researchers may obtain ORS signatures from Sameera Wazir at VGH, Willow Chest Centre Rm 100, 2647 Willow Street (604-875-4111 ext. 68455)
  • Applications from the Faculty of Arts may obtain ORS signatures from Shelly Fitzgerald at the Faculty of Arts, 1866 Main Mall, E177 (604-822-4003)
  • Applications from the College for Interdisciplinary Studies may obtain ORS signatures from Linda Leathley at the College for Interdisciplinary Studies, 164-1855 West Mall
  • Applications from UBC Okanagan may obtain ORS signatures from Susan Allen at Office of Research Services - 3333 University Way LIB310, Kelowna, Tel: 250-807-8443  


5) How and when will Research Services let me know my application is ready?

  • Research Services will approve the application electronically within two business days, status of your application can be verified online through the MSFHR website.
  • Due to the large volume of applications, please do not call Research Services unless two business days have passed since drop-off


6) What happens if I miss the UBC deadline?

If you miss the deadline, Research Services will do its best to process your application in time for the MSFHR deadline; however, we do not guarantee that we will be able to do so. Submission of applications after the deadline is at your own risk. All applications will be processed in the order they are received – no exceptions.

 

Transferring data from my.CV to Canadian Common CV

UBC Researchers who have already completed a my.CV can upload their data to the Canadian Common CV by using the “Prepare a New Canadian Common CV Export” within the Export Data portion of my.CV.

The steps to realize the transfer of data are:

Creation of CC CV Export File by my.CV
a.
Log into my.CV
b.
Complete or update you’re my.CV
c.
Click Export CV Data
d.
Build or View Canadian Common CV Export
e.
If necessary Click Prepare a New Canadian Common CV Export
f.
Select saved snapshot for which you want the Export File generated. Click XML for CCCV upload and save the file either on the Desktop or in a location from which it can be accessed later.
g.
Log off from my.CV
   
2. Transfer CV data to Canadian Common CV
a.
Log into CC CV
b.
Click on Transfer CV data
c.
Select Import External CV data
d.
Click on Browse to identify file of CV data created by my.CV (Step 1f above)
e.
Click Import
f.
You will now be requested to Verify the Data and to select if you wish to overwrite your existing CC CV data or to ignore portions of the imported data. If you want to import ALL of the data leave ALL the choices unchecked.
g.
Click Continue and your CC CV file will be updated.
h.
If you receive an error notification after step 2e please copy the error messages and paste them into an e-mail to UBC CV Support [ubccv.support@gmail.com]
